The Awards Procedure
The World Luxury Hotel Awards are voted for by the public and are awarded to luxury hotels or hospitality groups across 99 different categories, presented on a regional, continental, global and country basis, with one hotel receiving the global hotel of the year accolade.
Luxury hotels can self-nominate, be nominated by guests, travel agents or tour operators for consideration in the World Luxury Hotel Awards, which is made possible by the nomination facility on our website. Constant feedback from guests about their experience at a property allows us to evaluate the respective hotels to qualify them for participation. The successfully qualifying hotels are then formally invited (or accepted) to participate and register in the awards initiative. Official nominees will automatically be invited to register in the following year’s award season at a preferential rate.
Participants compete on a country, regional, continent and global basis. Only properties competing in the same categories compete against each other.
Regional levels are as follows:
Latin America, North and Central America, Caribbean, West & Central Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Indian Ocean Islands, Central Asia, East Asia, South East Asia, South West Asia, Southern Asia, Australasia and South Pacific/Oceania.

Anyone can vote online during the designated voting season, attracting over
300 000 votes annually.
Judging criteria is based on service delivery, luxury and presentation. The size of a property is not taken into consideration to determine eligibility.
Winners and the Gala Awards Ceremony
Winners are determined at the end of the voting season, and interim results are then released to the respective hotels. Participants will be invited to attend the Gala Awards Ceremony, where the official winners are announced, also revealing the category and region of the award achieved. This event is the year’s highlight, with many new business opportunities forged from the meeting of hospitality affiliates and media partners around the world.
World Luxury Hotel Awards Marketing Material
A ‘Nominee Marketing Kit’ will be provided to participants upon registration, a ‘Voting Kit’ prior to the voting season, as well as relevant ‘Winner Logo’s’ after the official results have been released.
The Ultimate Hotel Guide
The Ultimate Hotel Guide is an annually published high-quality book, profiling and show casing all participating hotels. Travel agents, tour operators, and hotel guests use these as a guideline to research, discover and book luxury accommodation. Each participant shares in this advantage to feature prominently in a hotel-guide.
The once-off annual registration fee is £950 per hotel and a 3-night complimentary voucher. The fee includes extensive global marketing and exposure throughout the year. The 3-night room voucher is used for a site inspection. The site inspection is not compulsory.

Marketing Tool Kit & Voting Tool Kit
We provide the official nominee and winner logos to be used on all hotel marketing material. The hotel participant has the right to use their respective authorized logos at their discretion for years to come. Voting tools include a voting button, e-mailer, social media artwork as well as instructions in order to launch a successful marketing and voting campaign. Each participant also receives a personalized voting page during the online voting phase.
Dedicated Hotel Liaison
Each hotel participant receives an allocated professional hotel consultant who manages the hotel’s registration, sets up and administrates the hotel’s digital online profile, communicates all important information, provides the marketing tool kit and general support to ensure a successful journey.
